Russell Price Farm Services was established at Lower Witherstone Farm in 1991 after Russell’s father allowed him to borrow the family’s potato harvester and go contracting around the county with it. Eventually, his customer base grew until the newly formed RPFS was planting and harvesting some 1200ac of potatoes on whole farm contracts from a new base at Moreton-on-Lugg.
As RPFS’ profile grew, the business began picking up tenancies and contract farming business around the county. This allowed RPFS to undertake more cereals based work with the help of the now established machinery ring at 7Y of which Russell was also a director.
RPFS began dealing machinery in 2007 following Russell’s pursuit of a one-pass cultivator to replace his current plough and combi-drill based system. When he eventually found Sumo, they were a relatively small company just starting out. When they told Russell they were looking for dealers, Russell always smelling a deal jumped at the opportunity.
